Debit card and ATM transactions immediately appear in your account history in a temporary status when transactions are approved. Please note the following:
- Pay at the Pump: When you swipe your card at a gas pump, it is common for the gas station to send a pre-authorization transaction for either $1 (just to verify the card is active) or for a larger amount, such as $50 or $75 (to ensure you have enough funds to cover that amount).
- $1 Authorization - When you swipe your card, a $1 transaction will immediately appear on your account. If you pump $30 of gas, an additional $29 will then appear on your account. Usually within 3 days, the transaction will permanently post to your account in the amount of $30.
- $75 Authorization - When you swipe your card, a $75 transaction will immediately appear on your account. If you pump $50 of gas, a CREDIT in the amount of $25 will then appear on your account. Usually within 3 days, the transaction will permanently post to your account in the amount of $50.
- Declined - If the gas station pre-authorizes all transactions at a higher amount, such as $75, you may be declined if you do not have at least this amount in your account (unless you opted in for Bounce Protection). If this situation occurs, prepay for the gas with your debit card inside the gas station.
- $1 Authorization - When you swipe your card, a $1 transaction will immediately appear on your account. If you pump $30 of gas, an additional $29 will then appear on your account. Usually within 3 days, the transaction will permanently post to your account in the amount of $30.
- Hotel/Motel Transactions: When you provide your card during check-in, the hotel/motel will likely send a pre-authorization transaction for more than the amount of the room. For example, if your room rate is $100, the hotel/motel will likely authorize a higher amount, such as $150. The $150 will immediately appear on your account. Usually within 3 days after completing your stay, the transaction will permanently post to your account in the amount of your actual hotel/motel bill, not the $150 pre-authorization amount.
- ATM Deposits: The first $400 of your daily ATM deposits are temporarily posted to your account immediately. Full deposit availability depends on when the ATM deposit was made:
- For deposits made before 2:00 p.m. on regular business days, the full amount will be available that same evening, typically by 8:00 p.m.
- For deposits made after 2:00 p.m. on the weekend, or bank holidays, the full amount will be available the next business day, typically by 8:00 p.m..
